Though a lover of food, I'm not too good in the kitchen. Yes, I love organizing and labeling the things in there and I also manage to feed myself decent meals every day but then, it's just the beginner's level. So, what do I do when the experimental bug in me starts gnawing my entrails? I let it go bonkers!
1. Magically Creating the Taste of Pancakes
This may sound gross to some but try having hot butter naan with a scoop or two of ice cream! I did this on my way back from a short trip. For no reason, this strange craving pushed me towards entering a Haldiram's at South Ex, New Delhi and placing the order. The staff of course, had to reconfirm this order and their bewildered expressions were just priceless!
When the order was served, I dug in with no inhibitions. To my surprise, it felt as if I were dining on pancakes.

2. Imitating the Taste of Cheesecakes
Then one day, I was craving for the baked cheesecakes served at Whipped, GK. Somehow, the idea of experimenting with high-fiber biscuits kicked in. So, I grabbed a few and coated them with cheese spread. Surprisingly, they taste very close to the cheescakes!

3. Automatic Smoothie & Chocolate Sauce
If you're like me- too cold and a preference for melted ice-cream- you already know this! It is no secret that some of us foodies love the texture of ice cream when it is not frozen. The soft swirls free of the icy grip tend to be a liberating culinary experience for the taste buds. Basically, it is like eating smoothie but as long as it tastes divine, what is there to complain?
Tip: Try melted chocolate. Sometimes, it tastes a lot better than its solid form and definitely more delicious than conventional chocolate sauce!

4. A Healthier Cake Replacement
Now, this may not work for everyone but this little trick has helped me beat my cake addiction for good. I started with eating a small piece of cake for breakfast and that did help bring the cravings under control. But then, I realized that wheat flakes in warm milk, soggy to the right texture, also did the job quite well. So, now I am addicted to this healthier breakfast option instead of having to battle my cake love every day. I do indulge once in a while but the guilt is gone. Trust me, if you can begin enjoying this, it does give the feel of eating a spongy piece of goodness.

5. The Final Sugar Replacement
People with a sweet tooth know the struggle too well. It is extremely hard to stay away from the after-meal desserts for too long a time. Fortunately, there is a solution. Simply, turn to natural sources of that sweetness. And before you make a face thinking of fruits, consider sugar free, natural, dried fruit. Figs are my personal favorite but a handful of raisins, prunes or dates would also do the trick. It has worked wonders for me and from eating dessert every day, I have gone down to eating dessert once or twice a month!
Tip: Pick the fat and juicy ones!
